In the advanced Ulpan for children we expand the knowledge of the written and spoken Hebrew language. The students are introduced to an illustrated group of Israeli children that talk about their issues and write about them in the group diary. In the class, the students will discuss relevant issues. As homework, they will be encouraged to keep a diary in Hebrew that will be read in class and checked by the teacher. In addition, the students learn about the Jewish and Israeli holidays throughout the year.

We learn new words every day |
In Hebrew, every noun is either feminine or masculine - the adjective conjugate accordingly. In this lesson we'll learn to match the adjective to the noun. We'll also learn how to use "everyday" in a sentence. |

The group's piggy-bank is empty |
The kids need to raise some money to take care of their animal corner - how can they do that? In this lesson we learn how the "root" helps us understand new verbs and words. We'll also learn to conjugate the third-person objective pronoun (אותו, אותה, אותם, אותן). |

The group members discuss whether children should work or not. Those who are in favor of working write some ads - you may write your own. |

In this double lesson the children discuss where they should go. They end up buying presents for a party at Yitsxak's store. For that purpose we learn how to check the price and how to count masculine objects. We'll also learn how to say the time. |

In this lesson we will be introduced to the Xanuka story and customs as celberated in Israel and in the diaspara. We will meet related words, sing some Xanuka songs in Hebrew, eat some virtual Xanuka donuts (sufganiyot) and latkes (levivot) and play some virtual Xanuka games. |

Tu Bishvat |
In this lesson we will celebrate the Israeli official birthday of the trees by eating virtual fresh and dried fruits and by singing Tu Bishvat songs. We will learn about the parts of the tree and the stages of the growth of a plant in Hebrew. |

Purim |
In Purim we must be happy. Therefore, the students will choose their virtual costumes and will eat their virtual Hammantashen (ozney haman). A short version of the Book of Ester will be read followed by Purim songs and games. |

Passover |
In this lesson we will see how the number four is related to Passover: Passover has 4 names, in Leyl Haseder we drink 4 cups and read about the 4 sons. The children will also learn to sing and understand the 4 questions and to recite the 10 plagues in Hebrew. |

Remembrance Day for the Holocaust and Heroism |
In this lesson we will talk with the older students about the holocaust, the story Ana Frank, and the way we commemorate the Holocaust and Heroism in Israel. |

Israel's Independence Day |
In this lesson we will learn about the establishment of the State of Israel. We will be introduced to the symbols of Israel such as the flag, the Menora, and the National Anthem - Hatikva. We will also light a virtual torch and give the State of Israel virtual presents. |

Shavu'ot |
In this lesson we will learn about the different aspects of Shavu'ot (counting 7 weeks after Passover, Harvest, first-fruit festival, and Giving of the Torah). We will learn about the holiday customs and the seven species. |
