Shalom friends,
| Tel-Aviv is known as the "First Hebrew City" |
that was built |
as part of the Zionist movement. The city was established at the turn of the twentieth century and has become the center of Israel’s finance, culture, art, and entertainment. Tel-Aviv is built on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea which influences its climate and
| the way the city was built. There are many wide and long boulevards |
that go |
from the sea in the west into the city and allow the wind from the sea known as the
| Breeze |
to cool the city down. |
Tel-Aviv is dynamic and interesting, diverse and colorful. This city reflects the contrasting aspects of the Israeli culture and character where you may find the rich and the poor, the luxurious and the run-down, the "new age" and the traditional, busy and leisure live together - sometimes in harmony, and sometimes not - but always in an interesting and challenging composite.
Tel-Aviv is the second most populated city in Israel with the highest number of commuters coming to work there. There are numerous hotels and attractions in the city (as you'll read and see below), such as the beach, the markets, the museums, and the different cultural, entertainment, and artistic events.

Lehitra'ot betel-Aviv!
See you in Tel-Aviv!

| The White City - |
(Ha'ir Halevana) |
Between the 1920s and the 1950s, many buildings in Tel-Aviv were built in the Bauhaus style that was popular in Europe between the two World Wars and reflected the unification of art and functionality. This style was adjusted to the Mediterranean climate: The walls were painted white to reflect the heat of the sun and long narrow balconies |
shaded by the balcony immediately above it, allowed residents to catch the sea breeze blowing in from the west. The part of Tel-Aviv that was mostly influenced by the Bauhaus style is known as the White City.
